Why The Rainy City

I've been shooting landscapes for years. This project narrows that down to one city and one rule: work through every neighborhood in Seattle's official atlas, and don't skip the unglamorous ones.

That started about fifteen years ago, on a cheap middle-of-the-road digital camera. There have been plenty of bodies and lens combinations since. The early frames came off equipment nobody would recommend, and a few of them are still the ones I like best, which tells you most of what you need to know about gear.

Seattle is the city I was born in, and the one I moved back to.

I restarted my life here.
